Sami Ruotsalainen designed the Oiva teapot using clean lines inspired by Japan.
The tranquil character of the Oiva teapot and mugs are complimented by the Unikko pattern. The pot and wood-knobbed lid are made of white stoneware ensuring a long lifespan the glazed color and pattern remain vibrant. The Unikko motif in red covers this white stoneware mug. The mug is made of dishwasher, oven, microwave and freezer proof white stoneware. Marimekko's famous poppy pattern Unikko was born in 1964 in a time when the design house's collections featured mostly abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting from this organic theme and designed an entire range of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.
Over the years Marimekko's anti-fashion became not only fashion but also a way of living. Marimekko is considered one of the first lifestyle brands to combine fashion, handbags and accessories, as well as home decor, into an expression of joyful living.
